Surgery

Companion Animal Hospital offers both routine surgical procedures, such as spays, neuters, and growth removals, and more complicated emergency, orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries.

  • All surgical patients undergo a pre-operative exam and pre-operative blood tests to evaluate anesthetic risks.
  • An intravenous (IV) catheter is placed in your pet's leg so that we can deliver fluids during the surgical procedure and recovery period. Since most anesthetic agents cause blood pressure to drop, delivering fluids enables us to maintain a safe blood pressure. The IV catheter also allows quick access to your pet's circulatory system if an emergency arises and requires immediate delivery of life saving drugs.
  • State of the art equipment is used to monitor heart rate, blood pressure, and all vital signs during the procedure.
  • Pain management is an integral part of our surgical protocols. All surgical patients receive pain control medication.
